Positioned on the edge of a protected nature reserve, Eden Lodge is located on Baobab Beach on ‘mainland’ Madagascar but accessed from Nosy Be.
The bungalows are really a mix of traditional construction and luxury tents, blending in perfectly with the environment. Each one offers spacious accommodation where you can relax in complete privacy, in a natural park, directly on the beach. A spectacular bathroom opens out onto a private terrace where residents can enjoy a massage and other beauty treatments.
The creative cuisine is inspired by spicy flavors of Madagascar and by the French.
Composed exclusively of fresh products grown on the premises, as well as fresh sea food brought daily to the lodge by the nearby fishermen.
Spectacular and very old baobabs form part of the exquisite gardens where several species of wild lemurs visit from the surrounding forest. The bird life is magnificent and rare birds, such as the Malagasy Fish Eagle and the black parrot, can be spotted.
If you are there at the right time of year you could witness the magic of turtles nesting or hatching just in front of the lodge. If you have chosen to spend your day on your deck chair you may be entertained by dolphins or whales.
Eden Lodge is unusual in that it was selected by ADEME as a pilot project for eco-tourism in Madagascar. Far from spectacular and publicized environmental measures, everything was originally sourced in an eco-friendly perspective with the local population in mind.
”To us, real luxury has nothing to do with the superfluous: it mostly means high quality service in a rare and long lasting environment.” Eden Lodge owner.
